Reading Between The Lines

by Ann-Katrina

Reading: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
Section: Introduction

The last sentence of the acknowledgments is a hoot. With that out of the way, we can move on.

Anne Lamott is a very funny lady, and I’m not just saying that because she wrote it in her book either.

And if you can stop laughing long enough to read between the lines, you may even notice the hint of melancholy in her words.

I laughed, I cried, I reflected — all within the first few pages. At one point, I honestly began to wonder if she silently crept into my head while I was sleeping and pilfered some of my childhood memories.

What a wild ride lay within the pages of Bird by Bird.

Well Rested For The New Year

by Ann-Katrina

The new year is almost here, it will arrive in 1 hour and 21 minutes to be precise.

I’ve decided that this year, I will not be out partying. I will not be out painting anything red. Instead, I will stay home, read a book, and go to sleep.

I want to be well rested to face the new year.

But if you’ve decided that being about the town, painting it red, and partying is what you’d like to do to ring in 2006, please be safe.

Happy New Year!

Let’s Start Reading

by Ann-Katrina

Today, I read… is a personal site and is not really meant to be an authority on anything.

It’s a place where I make notes on books as I read them and jot down a few vocabulary words for future reference.

If I can help someone understand a book any better while I’m at it, then great.

(Since this is the first entry of this blog, it’s not all that great – but I may come back later and make it better. If I feel like it.)
