It’s Thursday and you know what that means…another edition of Booking Through Thursday is here.
This week’s question is: Plots? Or Stream-of-Consciousness? Which would you rather read?
Plots.
Unless the author’s stream of consciousness is phenomenal and offers some redeeming quality like insightful character development or makes me ponder something greater than myself such as life, death, or love.
In fact, I’d love to hear about any great stream-of-consciousness stories if anyone has read one. Maybe I might change my mind about it.

I put out a call for good stream-of-consciousness on my BTT post, too To the Lighthouse is, I think, the only book I’ve read that qualifies, but I did find myself really engaging with the parts of the book that were written on that deepest level; if you’ve not read it, and don’t have anything against Woolf, I’d recommend it for a great example.

I don’t think I can stand it even for great character development. I just can’t follow it, so the development would probably be lost on me.
